This house in coastal Sorrento intentionally veers away from all the visual cliches associated with a beach house. Ours were the kind of clients who don’t succumb to the obvious, and we happily dispensed with the quintessential white on white aesthetic for a richly toned and multi-layered interior that speaks volumes about our clients’ heritage and family.
Our brief was both to assist the clients with furniture procurement but as time progressed it became evident that they also wanted to lean on our style and design expertise. We worked with the intentionally moody architectural finishes and dreamed up a scheme that would both delight and surprise them but also serve them well into the future.
We transformed the home’s front room into an atmospheric and comfortably casual family room. Opting for an olive-toned colour that envelopes the whole room - including the ceiling - we specified a deep Jardan sofa and a Christopher Blank, custom-made wraparound shelving unit that houses a personal collection of objects and books.
Our embrace of Autumnal tones continued with the amber side tables, a crafted dining table by Wood Room and a deep, chocolate-toned Berber rug in the living room. The standout feature is the large scale Charlotte Swiden mural in the master bedroom with a tonal palette and graphic style that perfectly echoes the clients love of pattern, art and the unexpected.
